Hopi Prayer

"Do not stand at my grave and weep.

I am not there, I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow.

I am the diamond glints on snow.

I am the sunlight on the ripened grain.

I am the gentle autumn's rain.

When you awaken in the morning hush,

I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight.

I am the soft stars that shine at night.

Do not stand at my grave and cry:

I am not there, I did not die."

Heinz Schulz was 59 years old and had served the community as a pilot at LifeStar for 18 years. October 7, 2005 Heinz accepted a mission like thousands before. The LifeStar Team was requested to transfer a critically ill patient. While the medical crew was preparing the patient for transport, Heinz departed for a local airport to obtain additional fuel for the long flight ahead. It was during this time that the mission deviated from the known, expected course. Heinz did not arrive at the airport and communication was lost. October 7, 2005 LifeStar lost a long time friend and coworker, a part of our small family. The community lost an experienced and dedicated pilot whose life's work was to save the lives of others. Heinz will forever remain part of our team and continues to watch over us, the community and the people he loved. Godspeed.
