Explanation of Changes

The current contract with our air vendor terminates on December 4, 2009. For over one year, the Taskforce has been exploring options with vendors for the future of the LifeStar program. In all, eight vendors made presentations to the Taskforce.

Priorities in selecting a new vendor:

1.) EmergyCare, Inc., Hamot Medical Center and Saint Vincent Health Center are committed to the ownership of the airframe, program, and LifeStar's continued presence in the communities we serve providing critical care transport.

2.) The new vendor shares risk by having a financial stake in the program and a demonstrated need in the programs success.

3.) EmergyCare, Inc. maintains employment of the clinical staff.

4.) EmergyCare, Inc. maintains ownership of the LifeStar base(s).

STAT MedEvac (vendor) was the only program that could meet our requirements and assist the in successful future of LifeStar.
